Solid scores on standardized tests (SAT or ACT). However, as of Fall 2021, over 1800 colleges are test optional.

Letters of recommendation from teachers and counselors that give evidence of integrity, special skills, and positive character traits.
* The first two items on this list are always paramount. The relative importance of the remaining factors varies depending on the college. However, all colleges review application holistically, and always read more than just the transcripts and test scores.
